Taxonomy
Raja mccollumi was named by Cicimurri and Knight (2009). Its type specimen is BCGM 9093, a tooth (male anterior tooth), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Summerville, which is in a Chattian shoreface claystone in the Chandler Bridge Formation of South Carolina.
