Taxonomy
Odontopteryx longirostris was named by Spulski (1910).

It was recombined as Pseudodontornis longirostris by Spulski (1910), Lambrecht (1933), Hopson (1964), Harrison and Walker (1976) and Mlikovsky (2002); it was recombined as Pelagornis longirostris by Mayr and Rubilar-Rogers (2010).
