Osteodontornis orri
Taxonomy
Osteodontornis orri was named by Howard (1957). Its type specimen is SBMNH 309, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tepusquet Creek, which is in a Miocene marine shale/limestone in the Monterey Formation of California. It is the type species of Osteodontornis.
It was recombined as Pelagornis orri by Mayr et al. (2007), Mayr and Rubilar-Rogers (2010), Cenizo et al. (2015).
