Sphaeroidothyris arabica

Taxonomy

Sphaeroidothyris arabica was named by Cooper (1989). It is not extant. Its type locality is Khashm Mashraq, S1001, which is in a Bathonian shallow subtidal limestone in the Dhruma Formation of Saudi Arabia.

Synonyms

Pionopleurum compactum was named by Cooper (1989). It is not extant. Its type locality is Beladin, S1447, which is in a Bajocian/Callovian shallow subtidal limestone in the Dhruma Formation of Saudi Arabia.

It was recombined as Sphaeroidothyris compactum by Williams et al. (2006); it was synonymized subjectively with Sphaeroidothyris arabica by Alméras et al. (2010).
Terebratula sphaeroidalis was named by Sowerby (1825). It is the type species of Sphaeroidothyris.

It was recombined as Sphaeroidothyris sphaeroidalis by Cooper (1983); it was synonymized subjectively with Sphaeroidothyris arabica by Alméras et al. (2010).
