Tanuella ampla was named by Voronin et al. (1982) [Tanuella ampla Zhegallo in Voronin, Voronova, Grigoreva, Drozdova, Zhegallo, Zhuravlev, Ragozina, Rozanov & Sayutina 1982]. It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Obtusoconus ampla by Parkhaev (2001).
