Acrochordiceras hyatti

Taxonomy

Acrochordiceras hyatti was named by Meek (1877). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is West of New Pass Mines, Desatoya Mountains, which is in a Bithynian/Illyrian carbonate limestone in Nevada. It is the type species of Acrochordiceras.

Synonyms

Epacrochordiceras compressum was named by Shevyrev (1995). Its type specimen is PIN 1477/562 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tkhach River, middle branch near bridge, Phyllocladiscites-Nicomedites beds, which is in a Bithynian marine carbonate in the Acheshbok Formation of the Russian Federation.

It was synonymized subjectively with Acrochordiceras hyatti by Monnet et al. (2010).
Acrochordiceras simplex was named by Shevyrev (1968). Its type specimen is PIN 1477/152 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Caucasochordiceras simplex by Shevyrev (1995); it was synonymized subjectively with Acrochordiceras hyatti by Monnet et al. (2010).
Acrochordiceras subrotundum was named by Shevyrev (1968). Its type specimen is PIN 1477/516 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tkhach River, left source, Phyllocladiscites-Nicomedites beds, which is in a Bithynian marine carbonate in the Acheshbok Formation of the Russian Federation.

It was synonymized subjectively with Acrochordiceras hyatti by Monnet et al. (2010).

Acrochordiceras alternans was named by Smith (1914). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Buena Vista Canyon, west of Unionville, West Humboldt Range, which is in an Anisian carbonate limestone in Nevada.

It was synonymized subjectively with Acrochordiceras hyatti by Monnet et al. (2010).
Acrochordiceras asseretoi was named by Fantini Sestini (1988). Its type specimen is MPUM 6095 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is T107, Section Vb, Gebze area, which is in a Bithynian carbonate limestone in Türkiye.

It was synonymized subjectively with Acrochordiceras hyatti by Monnet et al. (2010).
Acrochordiceras balarama was named by Diener (1895).

It was synonymized subjectively with Acrochordiceras hyatti by Monnet et al. (2010).
