Machairasaurus leptonychus

Taxonomy
Machairasaurus leptonychus was named by Longrich et al. (2010). Its type specimen is IVPP V15979, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is SCDP, Bayan Mandahu [non-specific locality data], which is in a Campanian dune sandstone in the Bayan Mandahu Formation of China.

N. R. Longrich et al. 2010Machairasaurus leptonychus is a small (c. 1.5 m long) oviraptorid. Machairasaurus exhibits a single autapomorphic character: manual unguals I–III elongate and bladelike in lateral view (length of claw approxi- mately 400 per cent the height of the proximal articular surface).
