Psephosthenaspis glabrior was named by Fortey and Droser (1996) [Paratypes: cranidia, USNM 481335-6; librigena, USNM 481340; pygidia, USNM 481338-9]. Its type specimen is USNM 481337, a pygidium, and it is a 3D body fossil.
