Taxonomy
Teyumbaita was named by Montefeltro et al. (2010). Its type is Scaphonyx sulcognathus. It was considered monophyletic by Montefeltro et al. (2010).
It was assigned to Hyperodapedontinae by Mukherjee and Ray (2015); and to Hyperodapedontinae by Montefeltro et al. (2010), Ezcurra et al. (2016).
