Taxonomy
Platanista croatica was named by Gorjanovic-Kramberger (1892) [no type specimen number listed
]. Its type specimen is Geological and Palaeontological National Museum, Zagreb, a partial skull (short section of rostrum with teeth), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Podsused, which is in a Tortonian marine horizon in Croatia.
It was recombined as Heterodelphis croatica by Kellogg (1925).
