Qiupalong henanensis

Taxonomy
Qiupalong henanensis was named by Xu et al. (2011). Its type specimen is HGM 41HIII-0106, a set of postcrania, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Qiupa, Luanchuan Basin, which is in a Maastrichtian fluvial-lacustrine mudstone/conglomerate in the Qiupa Formation of China. It is the type species of Qiupalong.

Xu et al. 2011An ornithomimid theropod dinosaur with unique features (a notch on the lateral surface of the medial posterior process of the proximal end of tibia and a small pit is present at the contact between astragalus and calcaneum) as well as a combination of primitive (short anterior extension of pubic boot) and derived features (arctometatarsal condition, straight pubic shaft, and wide angle between pubic shaft and boot).
