Notocearagryllus britannicus was named by Gorochov et al. (2006). Its type specimen is BMB 018615/-6, a tegmen (male tegmen), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Auclaye Brickworks (BMB collection), which is in a Barremian lagoonal claystone in the Weald Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
