Taxonomy
Nileus affinis was named by Billings (1865) [Lectotype selected by Whittington 1963. Includes GSC 720, 720a (formerly Nileus scrutator) according to Whittington 1965.]. Its type specimen is GSC 889a (lectotype), an exoskeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil.
