Taxonomy
Calyptaulax incepta was named by Whittington (1965). Its type specimen is GSC 18368, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Table Point, "Lower Table Head", Bed 8.10, which is in a Whiterockian shallow subtidal limestone in the Table Point Formation of Canada.
