Taxonomy
Telephina hibernicus was named by Reed (1909). Its type specimen is SMA 10398 (lectotype), a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Oopsites.

It was recombined as Oopsites hibernicus by Fortey (1975).
