Claraia clarai
Taxonomy
Posidonomya clarae was named by Emmrich (1844). Its type specimen is University of Wisconsin, No. 21343 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Meadow Creek Canyon, Claraia zone, Fremont County, which is in a Griesbachian marine limestone in the Dinwoody Formation of Wyoming. It is the type species of Claraia.
It was recombined as Avicula clarai by Lepsius (1878), Stoyanow (1910); it was recombined as Pseudomonotis (Claraia) clarai by Bittner (1901), Ogilvie Gordon (1927); it was recombined as Pseudomonotis clarai by Hsu (1937); it was recombined as Claraia clarae by Newell and Boyd (1995); it was recombined as Claraia clarai by Newell and Kummel (1942), Ciriacks (1963), Hofmann et al. (2015).
