Taxonomy
Neoschizodus australis was named by Runnegar (1969). Its type specimen is UQ F49665, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is L2786. Turisse Point, Durras South, which is in a Sakmarian shoreface sandstone in the Wasp Head Formation of Australia.
It was recombined as Schizodus australis by Clarke (1992).
