Ceraurus ruidus was named by Cooper (1953) [Includes Ceraurus pleurexanthemus Green in Bassler 1919 (Pl. 43, figs. 22-23) and in Cooper and Cooper 1946 (pl. 3, fig. 7).]. Its type specimen is USNM 111783, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.
