Taxonomy
Taphrosphys strenuus was named by Cope (1870). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Barnsboro "greensand" (Hornerstown), which is in a Maastrichtian marginal marine horizon in the Hornerstown Formation of New Jersey.
