Taxonomy
Knightites (Knightites) maximus was named by Yochelson (1960). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is B.E.G. 199-T2-Q21-1.3A14, Colorado River, Runnels County, which is in a Kungurian shallow subtidal limestone in the Clyde Formation of Texas.
It was recombined as Knightites maximus by Wagner (2023).
