Taxonomy
Pinguitellina was named by Iredale (1927) [Sepkoski's age data: Q Plei R Sepkoski's reference number: 1112]. It is extant.

It was reranked as Arcopagia (Pinguitellina) by Hashimoto (1982).

It was assigned to Tellininae by Vokes (1980); to Arcopagia by Hashimoto (1982); and to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002).
