Truncatoconus was named by Yü (1979) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Tomm-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1006]. It is not extant. Its type is Truncatoconus yichangensis.
It was assigned to Mollusca by Yü (1979), Sepkoski (2002); and to Helcionellinae by Parkhaev and Demidenko (2010).
