Opertochasma was named by Stephenson (1953) [Sepkoski's age data: J Kimm K Maes Sepkoski's reference number: 803,914]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Pholadidae by Vokes (1980); and to Myoida by Sepkoski (2002).
