Taxonomy
Neospirifer (Quadrospira) preplicatus was named by Hogeboom (1999). Its type specimen is GSWA F51014, a valve (Ventral valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is GSWA 144110, Callytharra Springs, Second Gully, which is in a Sakmarian marine mixed carbonate-siliciclastic in the Callytharra Formation of Australia.
It was recombined as Quadrospira preplicatus by Clapham (2015).
