Marginifera verchoyanica was named by Fredericks (1931).
It was recombined as Jakutoproductus verchoyanicus by Kashirtsev (1959), Ustritsky and Chernyak (1963), Shi and Waterhouse (1996); it was misspelled as Jakutoproductus verkhojanicus by Abramov and Grigorieva (1988); it was recombined as Jakutoproductus verkhoyanicus by Biakov and Kutygin (2015).
