Arcomya was named by Agassiz (1838) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis-l K Maes Sepkoski's reference number: 991]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Pholadomya (Arcomya) by Salomon (1895).

It was assigned to Pholadomya by Salomon (1895); to Pholadomyidae by Vokes (1980); to Pholadomyoida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Arcomyidae by Bouchet et al. (2010).
