Taxonomy
Edmondia was named by de Koninck (1841) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fras-u P Djhu]. Its type is Isocardia unioniformis. It is the type genus of Edmondiidae.
It was assigned to Pholadomyoida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Edmondiidae by Hoare et al. (1978), Vokes (1980), Morris et al. (1991), Amler (2010), Bouchet et al. (2010) and Bailey (2021).
