Taxonomy
Tychonia inexpectata was named by Kues (1995). Its type specimen is UNM P-24947 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Robledo Mountains L-03012, which is in a Sakmarian marine shale/limestone in the Hueco Formation of New Mexico.
