Taxonomy
Pachymya was named by Sowerby (1826) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr m K Maes Sepkoski's reference number: 991]. It is not extant. Its type is Pachymya gigas.

It was assigned to Pholadomyoida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pholadomyidae by Vokes (1980), Aberhan (2004), Scholz et al. (2008), Ros-Franch et al. (2014).
