Periplomya was named by Conrad (1870) [Sepkoski's age data: K Sant K Maes Sepkoski's reference number: 159]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Laternulidae by Vokes (1980); and to Pholadomyoida by Sepkoski (2002).
