J. D. Taylor and E. A. Glover 2009Shell very large (to 311 mm height), higher than long, discoidal. Sculpture of rough, low commarginal lamellae; narrow posterior dorsal area defined by a sharp sulcus, shallow anterior sulcus. Ligamental area large, external. Hinge teeth absent. Anterior adductor
muscle scar narrow, very long, extends posteriorly past mid-line of shell and ventrally detached from pallial line for most of length. Posterior adductor scar irregularly triangular.
Pallial line entire, with complex dorsal extensions. Pallial blood vessel scar terminates dorsally and anterior to the posterior end of anterior adductor scar.
