Taxonomy
Chonetes trapezoidalis was named by Waagen (1884). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Morah, yellowish sandstone, Upper Productus-limestone, Salt Range (Wynne coll), which is in a Changhsingian marine sandstone in the Chhidru Formation of Pakistan.

It was recombined as Waagenites trapezoidalis by Lee and Gu (1980); it was recombined as Quadrochonetes trapezoidalis by Kalashnikov (1993).
