Taxonomy
Doedicuridae was named by Ameghino (1889).

It was reranked as the subfamily Doedicurinae by Hoffstetter (1958), Castellanos (1959), McKenna and Bell (1997), Soibelzon et al. (2010).

It was assigned to Glyptodontia by Ameghino (1889); to Glyptodontia by Brown (1912); and to Glyptodontidae by Hoffstetter (1958), Castellanos (1959), McKenna and Bell (1997), Soibelzon et al. (2010).
