Lucina thierensii was named by Hébert (1849). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was corrected as Lucina thierensi by Deshayes (1858); it was recombined as Lucina (Callucina) thierensi by Glibert and de Heinzelin (1954); it was recombined as Phacoides (Callucina) thierensi by Glibert and van de Poel (1967); it was recombined as Claibornites thierensi by Gitton et al. (1986); it was recombined as Callucina (Callucina) thierensi by Marquet et al. (2008).
