Sphaerexochus valcourensis was named by Shaw and Bolton (2011) [Includes all material from the Chazy Group as Sphaerexochus parvus (Shaw 1968).]. Its type specimen is NYSM 12417, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.
