It was recombined as Chicoreus brevicanthos by Inzani and Bertarelli (1985); it was recombined as Hexaplex brevicanthos by Cavallo and Repetto (1992); it was recombined as Muricanthus brevicanthos by Damarco (1993); it was recombined as Hexaplex (Trunculariopsis) brevicanthos by Landau et al. (2007).
