Marrella was named by Walcott (1912) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm mMid-u]. It is not extant. Its type is Marrella splendens.

It was assigned to Mimetasterida by Sepkoski (2002); to Arthropoda by Caron and Jackson (2008); and to Marrellida by Legg (2015).
