Patriocetus ehrlichii
Taxonomy
Squalodon ehrlichii was named by Van Beneden (1865) [Type specimens are in the Museum Fancisco-Carolinum at Linz, Austria according to Kellog (1923).]. Its type specimen is OL Cet. 18, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Linz, which is in a Chattian open shallow subtidal sandstone in the Linzer Sanden Formation of Austria.
It was corrected as Squalodon ehrlichi by Brandt (1873), Zittel (1894); it was recombined as Patriocetus ehrlichi by Abel (1914), Dal Piaz (1916), Pia and Sickenberg (1934), Rothausen (1968), Sanders et al. (1982), Dubrovo and Sanders (2000); it was synonymized subjectively with Patriocetus grateloupii by Kellogg (1923); it was recombined as Patriocetus ehrlichii by Marx (2011), Marx et al. (2011).
It was corrected as Squalodon ehrlichi by Brandt (1873), Zittel (1894); it was recombined as Patriocetus ehrlichi by Abel (1914), Dal Piaz (1916), Pia and Sickenberg (1934), Rothausen (1968), Sanders et al. (1982), Dubrovo and Sanders (2000); it was synonymized subjectively with Patriocetus grateloupii by Kellogg (1923); it was recombined as Patriocetus ehrlichii by Marx (2011), Marx et al. (2011).
