Laudonia was named by Harrington (1956) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Boto-l Sepkoski's reference number: 476,885]. Its type is Laudonia bispinata.
It was assigned to Wanneriinae by Harrington (1956); to Olenellidae by Whittington et al. (1997); to Laudoniinae by Palmer and Repina (1993) and Lieberman (1999); and to Olenellida by Sepkoski (2002).

Glabella with three pairs of lateral glabellar lobes and a pair of small depressions in front of the first lateral glabellar furrow. Glabella tapering backward. Frontal glabellar lobe ex- panded anteriorly, reaching the anterior border of cephalon. Eye lobes short, sub-median (slightly posterior) reaching level of anterior third of second (3p) lateral glabellar lobe. Posterior genal ridge conspicuous.
