Diplagnostus was named by Jaeckel (1909) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm uMid-l Cm uMid-u Sepkoski's reference number: 16,464]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Diplagnostidae by Whittington et al. (1997) and Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Agnostida by Sepkoski (2002).
