Taxonomy
Pentagnostus was named by Lermontova (1940) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm lMid Cm mMid-u]. It is not extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Ptychagnostus by Jell and Adrain (2002).

It was assigned to Ptychagnostidae by Whittington et al. (1997); to Agnostida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Peronopsidae by Naimark and Pegel (2017).
