Paratitan libelluloides was named by Sharov (1968). Its type specimen is PIN 2555/1530, a wing (fore & hindwings), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Madygen, PIN collection 2555, Dzhailoucho area, which is in a Ladinian lacustrine - small siliciclastic in the Madygen Formation of Kyrgyzstan. It is the type species of Paratitan.
