Eodiscus (Serrodiscus) was named by Richter and Richter (1941) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm(Atda-u) Cm(Tojo-u) Sepkoski's reference number: 458, 462, 885].

It was reranked as Serrodiscus by Rasetti (1952), Whittington et al. (1997), Sepkoski (2002), Westrop and Landing (2011).
