Yinites was named by Lu (1946) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Boto-u Sepkoski's reference number: 463,464]. It is not extant. Its type is Yinites typicalis. It is the type genus of Yinitidae.
It was assigned to Redlichiida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Yinitidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
