Bellerophon (Euphemus) quadrilobatus was named by Reed (1904) [Bellerophon (Euphemus) quadrilobatus Salter in Cowper Reed 1904]. It is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Bellerophon quadrilobatus by Oosthuizen (1984); it was recombined as Plectonotus (Plectonotus) quadrilobatus by Boucot et al. (1986); it was recombined as Plectonotus quadrilobatus by Wagner (2023).
