Bellerophon (Sinuitopsis) subtrilobatus was named by Troedsson (1919) [Bellerophon (Sinuitopsis?) subtrilobatus]. Its type specimen is LO 2878T, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Tritonophon subtrilobatus by Ebbestad et al. (2008), Ebbestad et al. (2013).
