Taxonomy
Ceratites (Phillipites) lawsoni was named by Smith (1914). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Divide between Troy Canyon and South Fork of American Canyon (rotelliformis), which is in an Illyrian marine limestone in Nevada.

It was recombined as Ceratites (Philippites) lawsoni by Smith (1914); it was recombined as Frechites lawsoni by Spath (1934); it was recombined as Dixieceras lawsoni by Monnet and Bucher (2005).
