Blackwelderia was named by Walcott (1906) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm uMid-u Cm Dres-u Sepkoski's reference number: 16,464]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Odontopleurida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Damesellidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
