Ptychosphaera amplifalcata was named by Wang (1980) [Wang in Wang & Xi 1980]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Zhongying Section Bed 25 (QZ-7), Qinglong County, which is in a Changhsingian coastal limestone in China.
