Eoleonaspis was named by Sheng (1974) [Sepkoski's age data: O Ashg-u Sepkoski's reference number: 690]. It is not extant. Its type is Acidaspis shanensis.
It was assigned to Odontopleuridae by Jell and Adrain (2002); to Odontopleurida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Odontopleurinae by Ramsköld and Chatterton (1991) and Mergl (2014).
